December 2022 Update

As we look back on 2022 we feel enormous gratitude for funding received, to extend, improve and maintain Philakade.  For all the volunteers and students who crossed Philakade’s threshold this year to help raise funds, to organise and implement therapy, to play and help improve the lives of residents.

We received funding for solar panels and batteries, a car port, a white elephant stall and a previously owned “run about”.

A beautifully made carpentry table was donated for residents interested in carpentry and a life changing eye gaze computer for a resident with motor neuron disease.

A sensory swing was donated for our little ones, which helps stimulate neural pathways and they all love being in it.

Philakade celebrated its 3rd year anniversary in November with a sports day, organised by 3rd year occupational therapy students doing  a practical block  at Philakade.

We are currently developing a coffee / craft café, which we hope to open towards the end of January and establish on the 1000 Hills Meander and hope to see you over a cup of coffee and a toasted sandwich during 2023.

Wishing you a peaceful and joy filled festive season and Happy New Year.
