In April we were fortunate enough to receive the donation of a second hand paediatric standing frame, whose previous owner has outgrown it. Here you can see one of our new residents (who happened to be tall enough without adjustments) enjoying the experience and support. Just look at the joyous decorations and colours. What a privilege to have people who continue to think of our residents at Philakade.

Although our sewing circle has not got going quite as strongly as we want yet I have to say that I am impressed by the determination of some of our residents to make use of the skills which they have learnt. Here are Justice and Sbonelo M assisting by repairing clothes form people at Philakade.

Despite us heading towards winter and having had some of the highest rainfall in many years we have managed to get some lovely produce from our garden including a bucket of sweet potatoes which I sadly forgot to photograph. We make use of anything our garden produces in either our kitchen or coffee shop. Here are some of our lettuces waiting to be used. And we have to give recognition to the two hardest workers in this regard who supplied a large part of our compost. And they never complain or take a day off.

Finally we have had to make a little upgrade to our sewage system. It is currently in the process of completion. Just imagine the muscles it takes to dig that hole.

Thank you to the many visitors and supporters who have been in touch or just held us in their thoughts over the last two months. We really are blessed in our friends.
Here is wishing you all a brilliant next month or so until our next update. If you would like to get in touch please feel free to do so on philakadecareHome@gmail.com or helengatleyot@gmail.com.
