January 2026

Hello to all our friends, funders, supporters and family around the world. This is a very long overdue update for us but if any of you have been following us on social media you will see that some of these details and pictures are familiar. Some I think will be new and I hope all will be interesting. Since the last update in 2025 we have had a run of celebrations from Heritage day to our anniversary and of course Christmas and new year. Here are some pictures of the fun and games that were had.
Heritage day for those who are not from South Africa is a day that we celebrate by highlighting our similarities and differences in the rainbow nation by dressing up and of course, usually enjoying the ever popular braai.
Here are a few pics from 2025.

In 2025 National heritage week also crossed over with Occupational Therapy week and we were lucky enough to have a few therapists come through and volunteer time at Philakade. We are hoping that we can continue relationships with these kind souls in 2026.

Besides the special occasions we have continued with our normal activities and entertainments including crafts with volunteers, games and outings.

Of course with the return of summer and our rainy season 2 things always happen. First the veggie gardens start growing amazingly and secondly we have to make the most of sunny days to get all our laundry dry before the rain comes back.

Finally it was time for Christmas which meant celebrations, gifts and parties. Our children were able to attend a party given by the Hillcrest Community Policing Forum which was lovely and for those at the home we celebrated a few times thanks to staff and volunteers.

It truly was a special, if frenetic, time. 2026 has started just as quickly as 2025 ended and so here we are at the start of
February. Thank you all for your support and care.
We look forward to telling you more about what we have planned for this year including some more community outreach where we are able to extend our resources to it.
As always the value of your support and care cannot be overstated, even if it is just to hold us in your hearts wherever you are.
Thank you and be blessed.
