WHO WE ARE
Philakade Care Home is a registered residential facility in Embo, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. We provide 24-hour, compassionate nursing care to individuals who are disabled, homeless, destitute, or abandoned – offering a safe, supportive, and dignified home to those who need it most. We are committed to restoring dignity, building community, and offering hope to those who have been left without care.

OUR PURPOSE
We believe that everyone, regardless of their physical, mental, or social condition, deserves to live with dignity, respect, and a sense of belonging. Our purpose is to care for the most vulnerable with patience, love, and compassion, creating a place where everyone feels seen, safe, and valued.

OUR ROOTS
Philakade Care Home operates as an extension of Embo Community Church’s Primary Health Care Clinic. We are registered with the Department of Health and built on a foundation of faith and service. Our work is inspired by a deep calling to care for those who are often forgotten by formal systems and society at large.

WHY WE EXIST
South Africa faces many challenges, including the AIDS epidemic, high numbers of orphaned and vulnerable children, domestic violence, substance abuse, and widespread poverty. Within this context, people with disabilities are too often neglected, with few options for long-term care and little support from public systems. Many are left to suffer in silence, isolation, or abandonment. We exist to change that. Philakade offers a lifeline – a home where individuals can find safety, support, and community.

OUR APPROACH TO CARE
We provide holistic, patient-centered care to those who are bedridden, wheelchair-bound, or in need of full-time nursing. Our team is dedicated to meeting not just medical needs, but also emotional, spiritual, and social well-being. Philakade Care Home welcomes people of all faiths and backgrounds. Together, we create a warm, home-like environment where each person is treated with kindness, respect, and a deep sense of belonging.
